Michael Deering arrived April 9th to Hebron for a short visit with the love and support of brethren in the USA.
His third visit to Hebron since 2012, the children were eager to welcome him again and they delighted in the fact that they were remembered in love and not forgotten as so often happens to orphans in India.
With the Summer having fully arrived in India, temperatures were hot as the children were completing national examinations before the 6 week Summer holidays would afford them some time to visit distant relatives or enjoy more play time. As usual the smiles, the songs and the happiness of these children is infectious and goes a long way towards enduring the heat and humidity of Southeast India. Time spent with the children fills their hearts and lets them know they are loved and not abandoned in a world and a society that discards them.
Preparations were in full swing for the Spring Holy Day season that saw sumptuous food, worship and music ring out across the campus. The joy and love of the Jalli family, the staff and the children made the run-up to the Spring Christian holy days, a truly enjoyable experience once again.
Michael gave several sermons coinciding with the mission message of reconciliation through Jesus Christ and marveled at the numbers of brethren who came to celebrate and worship together. In some cases, brethren traveled many days to make it to Hebron for the evening worship services that were held from Friday night through Sunday evening the 13th.
There were 16 Baptisms at Hebron that week, a testament to the growing church in rural India and a reminder that the work of preaching the Gospel continues in a world that is becoming more perilous as each day passes. A special prayer was offered for Pastor Ramesh who suffered a serious leg injury and for his wife and soon-to-arrive baby.
